Felix Huettenbach is becoming known for undertaking daring challenges and exciting adventures on YouTube, but one of his most recent exploits is also one of his most ambitious. Ever since Felix was a little kid, he has wanted to take to the skies and become a pilot. The problem is, he’s only given himself 30 days, and he’s a “pretty bad driver.”

Who is Felix?

As a YouTuber, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, Felix tries to make content that encourages people to move outside of their comfort zone and push the boundaries of what they think is possible. His challenges are meant to demonstrate what someone can accomplish when they are determined to do something great.

Flight School in Prague

In his most recent video, Felix traveled from South Africa to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Usually, a pilot’s license takes 3 to 6 months to complete at least, but since his goal is to become a pilot in a single month, he came to the country that grants licenses the fastest. With a $25,000 investment, he went to ground school to begin his flight training. 

The building was smaller and simpler than Felix expected. He thought he would be in the air right away, but first, he needed to learn the basics. He described the experience as being back in university, but this time he was always monitored to ensure no one was cheating the system. On day one they did get to go in the air, but Felix said he was “only slightly worried.”

The Beginning of the Journey

However, by day two, he felt like he had bitten off more than he could chew. Lessons in flight theory were daunting, and he was beginning to think he couldn’t do it, but Felix doesn’t give up easily. He made it to day three, where he spent 2.5 hours in the air with an instructor, going over maneuvers and flight operations. By day four he was soaring above the clouds and landing on his own. 

Exam Day

When the day for his flight theory exam came, disaster struck. Felix was almost late to the exam, and after two hours of testing, he knew he had failed a test for the first time. At that moment, he felt as though if he wasn’t doing this as a YouTube challenge, he would have quit by now. Though it comes after further training, Felix’s video reveals that he did go on to earn his ground school certificate, and only a retake of the theory exam stood in his way of the final test.

Felix studied hard for the retest of the theory exam, and this time he passed with no mistakes. With only the flight exam preventing him from becoming a pilot, Felix was brimming with anticipation. On the day of the flight exam, he highlighted a flight map depicting locations he needed to find and authorities to contact to enter various airspaces. 

Achieving the Impossible

In the end, Felix achieved his goal of becoming a pilot in a mere 30 days, in spite of setbacks and self-doubt, he stuck to his goal of inspiring others and giving everything his all. During his life, Felix has moved from a broke 20-year-old to a successful entrepreneur turned YouTube philanthropist, determined to live boldly and tell impactful stories.
