Vincent Chin’s debut novel, Space Trip, offers readers an electrifying escape into a universe where danger, rescue, and hidden secrets converge in an otherworldly adventure. Set in a society overshadowed by a powerful entity known as The Nine, this novel explores the dark intersections of freedom, loyalty, and the tale of the lost werewolves. Vincent Chin’s story unfolds with Dr. Crayben, a doctor determined to make a difference, who risks his life to rescue a mysterious woman held in a comatose state within a notorious asylum. Though her past remains shrouded in secrecy, Dr. Crayben’s daring escape leaves him asking the pressing question: Who is she? And why was she held prisoner in the first place?
Space Trip keeps readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. This isn’t a typical space saga; Vincent Chin links the elements of suspense, action, and supernatural power, ensuring that each twist raises the stakes in unexpected ways. Dr. Crayben’s struggle begins in earnest when he chooses to harbor the woman in his own apartment, aware that the reach of The Nine could extend beyond the asylum walls. His careful precautions include enlisting a medical assistant droid—a robotic aid to monitor her vitals all the time, especially when he cannot be at her side. But the threat of discovery looms large as he faces unexpected visitors, forcing him to make life-altering decisions in an instant.
Vincent Chin’s narrative transports readers into a world rife with ethical conflicts and constant tension. At its core, Space Trip is more than a rescue mission as it is the tale of reclaiming the homeland. It’s an exploration of loyalty in a society where one’s freedoms—and, often, one’s survival—are dictated by mysterious forces. As Dr. Crayben grapples with his loyalty to his mission and the uncharted past of the woman he has rescued, readers are drawn into a visceral experience of risk and suspense. Each decision Dr. Crayben makes, and every new mystery that surfaces, propels the story forward, leaving readers eager for the next revelation.
Yet the stakes rise further when a knock at Dr. Crayben’s door threatens his entire plan. Strangers outside his apartment—a group of pest control workers—heighten the tension, forcing him to decide whether to hide the woman or confront the intruders. In mere seconds, Dr. Crayben must weigh the risk of exposure against his commitment to her safety, adding an almost cinematic layer of suspense to the tale.
Vincent Chin crafts his plot with an eye for intricate, high-stakes situations. Through vivid prose and captivating dialogue, he immerses readers in the emotional journey of a doctor willing to risk everything to help. The world of The Nine—where strange beings are locked away in mysterious forms—adds depth and complexity to the storyline, offering glimpses of otherworldly characters and moral dilemmas that resonate deeply. Without spoiling the details, it’s safe to say that Space Trip is both a sci-fi thriller and a story about a space trip and the lengths one is willing to go to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
