Discovering personalized travel experiences online can be frustrating, especially when every destination seems like a tourist trap. Niche, immersive travel adventures are hard to find, but Tripshepherd’s travel experience app is changing the game. Using artificial intelligence (AI) to cater to your preferences, Tripshepherd prioritizes community-based tourism alongside a travel creator’s platform.

Founding Tripshepherd

Tripshepherd’s founder and CEO, Daud Grewal, first entered the tourism industry with his company, See Sight Tours. When it launched, Grewal was still a high school student, but by 2012, See Sight Tours was ranked #1 on Tripadvisor for Best Niagara Falls Tours. Backed by this expertise and the earnest hope to draw attention to local attractions, Grewal built Tripshepherd.

The Vision Behind the Platform

Releasing on May 1, 2025, Tripshepherd is aimed at helping niche local experiences compete with large tour companies. Grewal understands that local attractions are only held back by an inability to raise awareness—by providing the marketing and the platform, Tripshepherd hopes to help these unique experiences earn their place on the map.

“We envision Tripshepherd as a travel necessity,” Natalie Janvary, Tripshepherd’s social media and communications specialist, wrote. “Users will turn to our app to book experiences for upcoming trips and travel inspiration. Travel will be reformed as a deeper way to understand our world’s cultures as well as its communities by sharing what makes each city unique, and uplifting the local people that wear their city’s colours with pride.”

Authentic Empowerment for Local Tourism

Guided by the simple values of authenticity, innovation, and community empowerment, Tripshepherd’s new travel app launch is doing things differently. The platform is built to uplift overlooked authentic experiences and empower the people behind them. Whereas competitors will spotlight the big-name operators that can pay for ad space, the platform offers hidden gems.

Short-Form Engagement and AI

To bridge the divide between well-known tourist attractions and local, authentic experiences, Tripshepherd invites users to post short-form videos about their journey.

“Users can upload short-form video content, share their unique experiences, and get paid when others book through their posts,” Janvary explained. “With AI-powered personalization, the app tailors recommendations to individual preferences—making discovery smarter, more meaningful, and community-driven.”

Tripshepherd enables users to personalize their travel experience, utilizing AI technology to connect them with the journey best suited to their preferences. The app invites users to connect with new experiences through posts that catch their eye rather than traditional advertising. Tripshepherd has already agreed with travel influencers to spotlight hidden gems in travel.

When the Tripshepherd app launches on May 1, the company plans to meet at its home base in Niagara Falls, Canada, to celebrate at the Niagara Parks Power Station. Most of the staff are local and are excited to see what comes next for the app.

A New Way to Travel

On launch, Tripshepherd plans to list local experiences from Niagara Falls (Canada), Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Miami, Bali, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City. The company offers a new, accessible way to approach tourism and local travel, as users and influencers join the platform, Tripshepherd will surely become the next form of local travel guide.
