There’s a new sound resonating in the city that has seen and heard everything. The Big Apple has taken “a bite” of musician Willie Lock’s unique genre, “New York Country Rock,” which blends the ruggedness of country with the raw energy of New York’s rock scene. The result is the emergence of a new music sensation. With the introduction of Lock’s innovative debut album, “West Side Stories,” the city, and soon the world, will experience a new sound in which heartfelt stories are shared with vulnerability.

Born into a world of music, Lock’s early years were marked by performances for every living President at the White House as a member of the National Cathedral choir. This prestigious beginning was a prelude to a career that would see him founding a viral acappella group known internationally for its innovative sounds. This experience honed his skills and set the stage for a solo career that would take him to new heights.

Moving to New York with nothing but a dream and the clothes on his back, Lock faced the daunting challenge of navigating the city’s competitive music scene. He recalls the early days with nostalgia and determination; “I moved to New York City with just $13 to my name. I would walk across the Queensboro Bridge after my shifts at Goldbar, writing songs along the way. Those were the moments that shaped me.”

Lock’s persistence paid off. He became the frontman for a house band at a prominent Hamptons venue, further refining his unique sound. His talent caught the attention of television producers, leading to appearances in hit shows like “Billions” and “And Just Like That…”. These experiences added layers to his artistry, blending with his musical roots to lay the foundation for his debut album.

“West Side Stories” is a raw, revealing, and ultimately touching narrative of Lock’s life in the west side of New York, a city known for its highs and lows. The album contains a collection of songs highlighting his journey of uprooting his life from Indiana to the biggest city in the world and all the adventures resulting from this experience. The album captures Willie’s emotional rollercoaster, from the euphoria of performing at iconic venues like The Greek Theatre and Wolf Trap to the struggles of starting from scratch in the Big Apple.

By pursuing his dream without allowing the bumps to derail him along the way, Lock’s efforts have paid off. His latest single, “When We Were 17”, soared to the top 50 charts on iTunes upon release. He has shared stages with renowned artists like Lainey Wilson and Kid Rock, performing at major events such as the Barefoot Country Music Festival in Wildwood, NJ. His viral video, “The Pachanelly Canon” showcased his talent as a musical innovator as he cleverly blended classical and contemporary styles.

Looking ahead, Lock envisions expanding his musical influence and continuing to innovate within the ‘New York Country Rock’ genre. His journey, marked by determination and creativity, is an inspiring blueprint for aspiring artists. With “West Side Stories,” Willie Lock doesn’t just sing songs. He tells the story of a dreamer who turned his aspirations into reality.
